Why not give it a shot?

I remember a couple of years ago when the director of student affairs came to my office and talked to me about this program. It was a program designed by the Rotary Clubs of Taiwan aimed at assisting elementary students in remote rural areas learning English through online digital video conferencing. I wasn't quite sure of this program, frankly speaking, for it was nothing like what I've seen before. But if it does make a difference to others, why not give it a shot? After all, there was nothing to lose anyway. With that in mind, I started getting involved in this program with my students. It was quite tough in the beginning as it is so in basically everything, however with the passion and enthusiasm of my students, we were able to overcome quite some difficulties no matter it was the hardware, software, the Internet connection, the kids not having used to doing such learning and so on. When asked about what was the class that was worth going to in high school, my students would not hesitate but to answer proudly that it was this program, which changed not only the lives of others, but gave them an opportunity to have a whole new perspective and to feel obliged to the world around us.
